Gordon

Master Sergeant Gary Gordon was a Delta Force sniper who, along with SFC Randy Shughart, voluntarily inserted into the crash site of Super Six-Four to defend the wounded crew against overwhelming enemy forces. Both men knew the odds were against them. Gordon was killed in action while protecting the sole survivor, Chief Warrant Officer Mike Durant. His extraordinary valor earned him the Medal of Honor — one of only two awarded for the Battle of Mogadishu. His permanent memorial stands along the limestone wall at Queenslake Horse Farm, where his name is read aloud by every runner who passes.
